Lisa Desjardins (nee Goddard, born January 29, 1972) and American political journalist. She is a PBS NewsHour correspondent and previously worked at CNN Radio and the Associated Press. She has covered five U.S. presidential election reports as of 2018.
Desjardins was married to Jason Desjardins in 2007 Their son was born in 2016 and they now live in Alexandria, Virginia.
Desjardins was then recruited by CNN and would stay there for nine years, 2005 to 2014. Desjardins was CNN Radio’s Congress correspondent. She also reported occasionally for CNN.com, CNN’s news channel. She was transferred to CNN’s Washington Bureau as a Capitol Hill reporter after CNN Radio shut down in June 2013. She was part the 2008 presidential primaries team. CNN was awarded a Peabody Award for 2008 for its coverage. Desjardins also reported on the Haiti earthquake in 2010 for CNN Radio. This coverage received a Sigma Delta Chi Award. She co-authored a book on personal finance while working at CNN with Rick Emerson, entitled Zombie Economics: Managing Personal Finance. Avery Publishing published it in May 2011. Desjardins was the chairperson of the June 2014 Annual Dinner of the Radio and TV Correspondents Association. After being laid off in August 2014, she left CNN.

Desjardins earned a bachelor’s in economics at College of William & Mary, Williamsburg, Virginia between 1990 and 1994. In 1994, Desjardins went to Russia to complete a two-year study at Herzen University, Saint Petersburg. There she learned Russian and studied Russian Studies. She covered the South Carolina Legislature and the debate about the Confederate Flag being displayed at the South Carolina State House. Desjardins was appointed a reporter at the Washington, D.C. bureau, Associated Press in 2003. She covered, among others, the 2004 presidential election, Medicaid, hurricanes, and the Iraq War.
Desjardins joined the PBS NewsHour in October 2014 as a politics reporter. In July 2015, she was promoted to “political director”. Desjardins appears on camera (both from the studio and from the Capitol Building), and she writes articles for the website of the NewsHour.
